Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 ounce packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 ounce packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 ounce
  • Chopped fresh cilantro optional garnish
  • diced tomatoes optional garnish
  • jalapeños optional garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Medium bowl
  • Baking Sheet

Method

  1. Step 1: Get the Oven Ready. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: Brown the Beef. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Step 3: Taco Time! Stir in the taco seasoning mix and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a gentle simmer, then turn heat down to low. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring, until most liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat.
  4. Step 4: Whip up the Ranch Creaminess. In a medium bowl, add softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir until smooth and combined.
  5. Step 5: Prep the Crescents. Unroll the package of crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Separate the dough along the perforations into 8 individual triangles.
  6. Step 6: Layer 1 - Cream Cheese. Place a small spoonful of the creamy ranch mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle.
  7. Step 7: Layer 2 - Taco Meat. Add a spoonful of your seasoned taco meat on top of the cream cheese layer.
  8. Step 8: Layer 3 - Cheese Please! Sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese over the taco meat filling.
  9. Step 9: Roll 'Em Up! Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each triangle towards the pointed end to form the crescent shape. Pinch the edges slightly to seal the filling.
  10. Step 10: Bake Until Golden. Arrange the rolled-up crescents on your ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
  11. Step 11: Cool & Garnish. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Serve warm and sprinkle with optional garnishes like fresh cilantro, diced tomatoes, or jalapeños.

Notes

Tips for Success: Ensure cream cheese is softened for smooth mixing. Avoid overfilling to make rolling easier and prevent bursting. Drain beef grease well. Pinch edges to seal filling. Cook and season beef ahead of time for quicker assembly on the day of serving.
Storage: Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes, or microwave (may lose crispness).
