  • 1 cup pizza sauce your favorite
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese part-skim or dairy-free alternative
  • 12 slices pepperoni slices can substitute turkey or vegetarian pepperoni
  • 1 tsp dried oregano sprinkled on top

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin pan generously to prevent sticking.
  2. Step 2: On a floured surface, roll pizza dough into a 12" x 10" rectangle. Use a light dusting of flour to avoid tearing. Let dough rest if needed.
  3. Step 3: Spread an even layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border all around.
  4. Step 4: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce-covered dough.
  5. Step 5: Arrange pepperoni slices overlapping slightly along the long edge of the dough closest to you.
  6. Step 6: Carefully roll the dough tightly starting from the pepperoni side. Slice the roll into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  7. Step 7: Pinch the top of each slice inward gently to form a heart shape. Place each slice into the prepared muffin pan cups, spaced evenly.
  8. Step 8: Sprinkle dried oregano over the tops of the pizza roses.
  9. Step 9: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbling. Watch carefully in the last minutes to avoid over-browning.
  10. Step 10: Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
