Ingredients

For the Gingerbread Fudge
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips these give the fudge its rich, chocolatey base
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 ounces
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter adds richness and smoothness
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger for that warm, spicy kick
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon a classic flavor in any gingerbread recipe
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg adds a hint of warmth and depth
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves another spice that enhances the ginger flavor
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract brings everything together with its aromatic sweetness
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional, for a delightful crunch
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins optional, adds a nice fruity contrast to the chocolate

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Method

  1. Step 1: Begin by greasing the bottom and sides of your slow cooker with cooking spray. Alternatively, you can line it with parchment paper for easy removal later.
  2. Step 2: In the slow cooker, add the semisweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter.
  3. Step 3: Sprinkle in the ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and vanilla extract.
  4. Step 4: Stir the mixture until all the ingredients are well combined.
  5. Step 5: Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, until the chocolate mixture is melted and smooth.
  6. Step 6: If you're using them, fold in the chopped nuts and dried cranberries or raisins into the fudge mixture.
  7. Step 7: Pour the fudge mixture into a prepared dish or pan, spreading it evenly. Let it cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, then refrigerate for another 2 hours to set.
  8. Step 8: Once set, cut the fudge into squares and serve.
