- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until light brown and nutty. Remove from heat and cool.
- Whisk together browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish. Press half the dough into the bottom.
- Warm Nutella until softened. Spread evenly over dough base, leaving a border.
- Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough over Nutella. Spread to cover, leaving a rustic look.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and center is set.
- Cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Add nuts for crunch, swap Nutella for other spreads, add melted chocolate after baking, or use seasonal flavors.
