Ingredients
  

For the Cherry Layer
  • 1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
For the Cream Cheese Layer
  • 1 package cream cheese softened, 8 oz
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cake Layer
  • 1 box yellow cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans optional

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and well blended.
  3. Step 3: Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. Step 4: Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the cherry filling, spreading it gently to cover as much of the cherries as possible.
  5. Step 5: In another bowl, combine the yellow cake mix and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.
  6. Step 6: Sprinkle the cake mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Step 7: If using, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the cake mixture.
  8. Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is cooked through.
  9. Step 9: Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Cover the dish with plastic wrap or transfer slices to an airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
